AECC Volunteer Congress

The Challenge

AECC Madrid wanted to create a meeting space for volunteers to discuss current and future cancer challenges, strengthen their sense of belonging, and recognize their work. The goal was also to attract new volunteers and foster synergies with partner companies—all in a venue well connected and relevant to the cause.

#WeBringCommitment

The 1st Volunteer Congress was held at UCM’s Faculty of Medicine with a full-day agenda and over 1,000 registrations under the motto “Contigo”. Five simultaneous sessions allowed attendees to personalize their journey, supported by a custom event app. The program included scientific talks, motivational sessions, patient testimonials, and volunteer recognition ceremonies. Catering was managed sustainably, with surplus food donated to Madrid’s food bank.

Results

More than 1,000 registrations, 200 new volunteers, and outstanding scores in the satisfaction survey.
Carmen Galatas, Head of Development: “We couldn’t be more grateful for your work—you gave us so much confidence and peace of mind. You can’t imagine the number of congratulatory messages we’ve received for the excellent organization.”
José Meniz, Head of Volunteering: “We’re extremely happy with the outcome of the congress. Everyone was delighted, and the volunteers loved it.”
